1The ammount of times I changed my view of this CD the first time I listened to it illistrates the pure diversity of the tunes here.

The selection is fantastic and tunes range from proper 2step (TME) to slow dubby rythms (Digital Mystiks). If you are not into the whole range then this album is not for you...Personally I would
call this a plus. The nMary Anne Hobbs plays it dirty and drops in some manic drum 'n' bass (Spor).

The tunes are selected for their pioneering in music and ignoring the "Cannon" of dubstep, they are not selected because the artists are well-known or whatever.

Also the Benga, Andy Scott, Burial, The Bug, Spor, Loefah and DJ Distance tracks are exclusives for this album. Also this is the only album I know of so far featuring mc's - over the 2step aswell
as the 'real' dubstep (Terror Danjah, Mc Brattz & Bruza).

1987, la rencontre du rappeur Black Thought et du batteur Questlove donne la naissance au projet THE ROOTS. D'influences musicales diverses, du jazz au funk en passant par la soul, ils commencent

Chanteuse de Nouvelle Vague, le temps d’un Bande à part, Phoebe Killdeer tente de casser cette image en proposant un premier album à la fois brut et sensuel, même si Marc Collin (tête du groupe)
s’est collé à la production. L’australienne joue les funambules sur un fil à haute tension, passant d’un genre à l’autre (rock, blues, jazz…) avec la même aisance, escortée de ses Short Straws
dans les accompagnements surprennent souvent par leur richesse et certaines pointes d’originalité. L’ensemble intense, même s’il n’est pas parfait, se caractérise par une débauche d’énergie qui
donne rapidement envie de trépigner. L’été à venir s’annonce électrique !

Lush, airy vocals juxtaposed with swirling instrumentation and

tightly-programmed percussion lie at the core of O-rynn’s ten-track

debut LP, Nomadica. An experiment in sonic variety,the Wurlizer-

tinged tracks are sometimes light and ethereal, other times moody

and melancholy, and at all times captivating. From drum-less ballads

like Song to the insanely fast-paced drum-n-bass ode Pristine, this

emotion-packed LP drowns itself in IDM bliss.

Relying not only on strong song structure but carefully crafted sounds,

Nomadica serves to take listeners to a beautifully haunting place.

Vocalist Maria Aggabao acts as the tour guide, painting musical

panoramas that simply jump from the speakers. Her partner, protean

producer and instrumentalist Erik Machado, does his part to ensure

that the correct mood is set by providing a soundscape that straddles

the line between vintage and futuristic.

Recorded over a six-month period in a small studio in Queens, New

York City, this ten-song excursion from the norm builds upon the duo’s

extremely wide variety of influences. With songs such as the Portis-

head / Wu-Tang Clan influenced Prey 4 Piece, O-rynn really puts

their own spin on all things, creating an extremely unique take on

music.

Also included are two bonus tracks, the instrumental So Near Two

Far and a dancefloor-based drum-n-bass remix of Pristine by a dnb

up-and-comer with a phenomenal story named Mr. Joshua.

With Nomadica, O-rynn manages to create an infinite landscape of

wonderment, where the listener’s own imagination is the only bound-

ary.

An accompaniment to the animated film 'Varmints', this is a collection of achingly beautiful orchestral work balanced on a bed of Jóhannsson's patented electronics. Surprisingly however, the film
itself is not intrinsic to the enjoyment of the music; Jóhannsson's score stands alone perfectly as a haunting collection of tracks.



As with most soundtracks, the album is made up of a selection of repeating themes which appear and disappear throughout the record; Jóhannsson manages to approach this with such subtlety you
can't always even tell that a familiar theme is drifting in and out of each track. The clouds of ambience and growls of synthesizer that underpin the lilt of the orchestra are crucial to the
record and give a similar warmth similar to what made 'Englaborn' so very special. These pieces are memorable and deeply moving, and within one listen you could almost visualise the film itself –
or at least a home made version. Soundtrack or not, Jóhannsson has created yet another peerless collection of electronic/classical vignettes you won't be forgetting any time soon.

which may not culminate in a winning scenario, unless, of course, you refer to the highly

anticipated debut album from Soom T & disrupt. Following the duo's "Dirty Money EP" this

disc threatens to gather up every ganja cliché ever designed and smash them all to

smithereens, with some healthy helpings of bass, serious 8 bit production from Jahtari

daddy disrupt, all laden with some serious vocal jiggery pokery from Scotland's number one

bigmouth, Soom T. With a neat tongue in cheek approach this album does everything but

take itself seriously, while daring to challenge all current or past ganja-themed music and

slaughter without mercy.



Not for the faint of heart, this epic is designed to chill and stimulate (listeners to skin up),

making sure to engage lovers of Reggae, Jazz, Soul, Dub, Hiphop, Jungle and everything in

between with a dramatic quality and laugh-out-loud sentient which overrides the seasoned

generic ear. Every mildly self-respecting music lover dare not do without this chunk of solid

yellow stone in their collection for fear of reprecussions from the music police for 'failure to

assist in the pursuit of good tuneage'. Get it now - or pay the price of having a worse

collection than your counterparts...

The past eighteen months have witnessed a spectacular succession of exceptional debut albums by female singers, each with their own unique sound and sense of purpose, including Mariza and Lula
Pena (both from Portugal), Souad Massi (Algeria), Sui Vesan(Slovakia) and the Be Good Tanyas (Vancouver, Canada).Here's the latest album to join this exalted company, although pedantic readers
may correctly point out that Yol Bolsin is not strictly a debut album.



Sevara Nazarkhan is already famous at home in Uzbekistan, where her songs are played on the radio and her cassettes can be bought in the street markets of Tashkent and Samarkand. But where her
own recordings were made solely with local musicians, Yol Bolsin is her first to be produced for Western ears. Its a difficult trick, to protect a distinctive regional style while rendering it
accessible to a more general audience, but French studio wizard Hector Zazou has pulled it off here.



This is not an album to set a party alight. But while it is contemplative, its not soporific - there's a groove to most of the tracks, ingeniously woven from Uzbek instruments.The title track,
'Yol Bolsin' stands out. Based on a song dating back to the days of the brigands who preyed on Silk Road travellers, now its message is more benign; its melodies are played by Toir Kuziyev on
various string instruments -Turkish saz and Arabic oud, as well as doutar. Its rhythm has a slowed down bo diddley syncopation, and would fit into so many contexts - from Buddha Bar type bistros
to adventurous blues-based radio shows.



Look out for Sevara's live shows at the Barbican's Festival of Music from Eastern Europe and Beyond (in May) and at WOMAD Reading (July). She is likely to be among the nominees for Best New
Artist and Best Asian Artist at next years Awards for World Music.

Con nuestro último disco pretendemos iniciar una nueva etapa en la trayectoria de la banda. Creemos que Construmón es la culminación de un proceso de muchos años en los que la banda se ha ido
definiendo musicalmente y encontrando una formación estable. La intensidad del trabajo hecho durante el último año, que ha supuesto la implicacióntotal de todos los miembros de la banda en el
proyecto, nos ha permitido grabar 14 temas nuevos y rehacer temas antiguos como Palomeke o La Boulangerie.



La idea de Construmón es un concepto abstracto que hemos creado para describir el mundo en el que vivimos; la mayoría de nuestras canciones describen nuestra realidad cotidiana, con todo aquello
que nos gusta y todo aquello que nos repugna de nuestra sociedad.



Construmón se puede entender como un mundo en el que la construcción sin respeto aguno por la naturaleza y el territorio es lo que impera, donde unos cuantos se han enriquezido especulando y
construyendo. En este Construmón los beneficios se los reparten unos pocos, pero todos pagamos la destrucción del medio ambiente y la crisis económica.



Unido a este concepto también entendemos Construmón como el paraíso que se vende tanto a ciudadanos como a inmigrantes donde el éxito en la vida se basa en poder construirse una casa. Nosotros
creemos en nuestro Costrumón como un lugar donde el éxito consiste en construir proyectos entre las personas. En definitiva, Construmón puede significar muchas cosas, nosotros queremos que sea
una idea sobre la que reflexionar.



Las canciones de nuestro disco hablan de la cultura popular, de los nuevos movimientos sociales, de la libertad, del camino que sigue Barcelona… no podemos dejar de abordar estos temas con
optimismo, positividad y mucho amor hacia a lo que nos rodea y hacia la música que hacemos. Estamos muy contentos de que tanto Leo de Che Sudaka como Meri de Costo Rico hayan querido colaborar en
nuestro disco porque creemos que son gente que comparte nuestro punto de vista de la realidad y que llevan años trabajando para y por la música.



A nivel musical, creemos que este disco también supone un paso adelante en nuestra trayectoria; se consolida una formación humana y musical, y en cierta manera hemos encontrado el sonido que
buscábamos, el asesoramiento de Gambeat ha sido fundamental.



Con este disco esperamos difundir nuestro mensaje concienciador de la realidad que vivimos y animar a convertir en proyectos toda la energia positiva de las personas y los colectivos. Para
