Cassandra Wilson was once described by Time magazine as "America's best singer." Wilson was born in segregated Mississippi — also the birthplace of the blues — but she's always been on a journey
to explore other sounds and influences.
The latest stop on her journey is the new album Another Country, a collaboration with Italian-born guitarist Fabrizio Sotti. Wilson says that as a young girl, she was eager to learn the guitar
and asked her father to teach her — but he refused.
"He said no — he wouldn't teach me. He gave me a guitar and a Mel Bay book to learn the chords and teach myself," Wilson tells NPR's David Greene. "He did that because I had just finished seven
years of piano lessons, and of course piano lessons were very restrictive. And he wanted me to develop a relationship with an instrument that was much more intimate, and a relationship that I
initiated.
"It worked out well for me," she says. "I still love the piano, but the guitar is my heart."

Le classement des meilleurs ventes de Wallonie et de Belgique Francophone accueille cette nouvelle venue et son album "Blow Up My World". Faites connaissance avec Fanny Bériaux...
Fanny Bériaux signe avec « Blow Up my World » un premier album coloré teinté de fraicheur et de notes résolument pop et jazz. Cette jeune artiste bruxelloise y travaille depuis trois ans. Fanny

Remember Shakti is a quintet which combines elements of traditional Indian music with elements of jazz. The band consists of English guitarist John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain (tabla), U. Srinivas
(mandolin), Shankar Mahadevan (vocals), and V. Selvaganesh (kanjira, ghatam, mridangam), who are all of Indian descent. The band's name is derived from John Mclaughlin's acoustic Indian fusion
band Shakti which was active in the 1970s. This band consisted of John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, L. Shankar, T.H. "Vikku" Vinayakram, and R. Raghavan. The word Shakti translates in Sanskrit to
"female creative power" or "goddess."

When I was in college I had to take one humanities class to fulfill a requirement for graduation. I took a class on the visionary poet and engraver William Blake. I found it fascinating, although
I admit that some of his more complex later works were a bit beyond me. Blake's work has had an effect on composer John Zorn as well, and he put together this suite performed by John Medeski on
piano and organ, Kenny Wollesen on vibes, Trevor Dunn on bass and Joey Baron on drums. The music takes on a mystical and hypnotic feel, perfect for someone like Blake who claimed to see visions
throughout his life. The most evocative pieces on the album for me were "A Dream of Nine Nights" and "Dance of Albion." The first opens with delicate piano, developing a spritely air with vibes
probing and the whole improvisation anchored by strong loping and elastic bass and deeply rippling piano. The latter has a feel akin to Zorn's The Dreamers project with Medeski developing a
repetitive piano riff, working dexterously, before cycling into a strong and ominous section, like dark clouds gathering on the horizon. "Liber XV" is evocative as well, with Medeski shifting to
organ, and Wollesen playing dampened sounding vibes. Rattling drumwork adds to the eerie feel of the music. This music sheds light on Zorn as a composer, and it is interesting how he takes
inspiration from different and diverse sources and communicates them to his fellow musicians.

" Now I will taste the fall and owe all my love to him". The nature of melancholy is one of beauty, and so is its language. Thus melancholy is my true artistic source. " You can`t force a rose to
bloom". The way I see it, patience combined with hard work is the only way to go, and we should feel humble towards the changes cast upon us as we trot along.

Laila Angell has a close relationship with Edvard Grieg's music. Now she has composed 10 songs, inspired by the Norwegian master's piano pieces. Their debut album, Changes- an organic, acoustic
Norwegian jazz albums - represents a new and different elements of Norwegian jazz and popular music.
The lyrics on the CD is the result of a collaboration with author Marit Berger.
Genre-wise are the songs in the landscape melodic jazz / pop with a touch ballad. Artist's distinctive voice enhances the clean melodic lines, the exciting harmonies and lyrical texts. Naked
voice with delicate shades of blue. A remarkable debut.

After her debut album "Waiting To Be Told" is Renske Taminiau with her second album 'Move Me'. This album has eleven self-penned songs Renske and her band to sound. The CD case is beautifully
designed by Renske itself and has a mysterious look.
'Love' bites the ball rolling. A sound like you're watching an old movie in which two special lovers together at last in the arms. A romantic sound so good you can dream. 'Paris' is a French song
and just as lovely as 'Love'. You can not speak French, it is still a beautiful song.
In "To You We Sing 'is a bit more in the pit. "I'll do whatever I can to put his mind at ease. I promise I'll be his best companion. In good times or in better." 'Stay' has beautiful backing
vocals and a cheerful melody. "I Told You So 'has a somewhat tougher character. "What keeps us from being honest?" The background vocals are uplifting and the instruments work together to build
an exciting under Renske's vocals. She shows in this song more her feelings are harder to get through and more to play with her intonation and vibration. The valve, 'Luna', as the usual jazz
songs by Renske, only the voltage is great here built and detonated it at the end.
Striking Renske's flawless sound is that they really tell a story. Her polished voice fits into the whole and her band creates a full sound. Renske's goal with this piece was an exciting result
to put down than her debut. And even though the songs on 'Move Me' generally peaceful in nature, Renske should be proud of her second gem. This record she made with another motive: self enjoy
music instead of always meet the needs of others. And so the album sound so pure. "Move Me" is a CD full of sensitive lyrics and dreamy melodies that in any way certainly moves.

Wikipedia :
