Growing like wildfire under the canopy of live electonica and world roots music comes a masterful merge of modern technology, live instrumentation and seductive performance, built of brass bands
and glitch, string quartets and dubstep: the musical trio Beats Antique.

Since the group’s inception from the eclectic underground of San Francsico’s performance art scene, Beats Antique has been notorious for making it nearly impossible to sit still. They meld their
mediums as attentively as they fuse the cultures that inspire their sound. All self produced and composed, the trio creates a unique collage: an animalistic, raw musical event that blurs the
lines between the provocative, the spiritual, and the artistic, while still maintaining an allegiance to the muses of class and beauty.

The journey that led to Beats Antique today was a winding and twisted path from the west coast to the ancient trade routes of the silk road. In this modern incarnation, the musical alliance of
producers David Satori and Tommy Cappel is inspired and emphasized by their collaborative partnership with world-renowned belly dance performer and music producer Zoe Jakes.

David Satori and Tommy Cappel both trained classically before venturing to locations such as Bali, West Africa, Serbia and beyond. With extensive backgrounds in multicultural music production,
and the passports to prove it, Satori and Cappel command the spectrum of live and digital instrumentation, born from Hip Hop and old school jazz.

Zoe Jakes adds a third dimension as the multi –cultural and –disciplinary dance counterpart to Beats Antique’s sound. Jakes has worked with 2 major dance troupes, Miles Copeland’s Bellydance
Superstars and Rachel Brice’s Indigo Belly Dance Company, a student of ballet and contemporary techniques. Jake’s additional history with Cappel in the Extra Action Marching Band and the Yard
Dogs Road Show grants some insight into the caliber of performance that is Beats Antique’s standard.

All of this sets the scene for Beats Antique’s overtly ambitious stage show, a sensory overload conquest of the festival circuit’s most riotous events, such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits
festival, and Outside Lands, as well as a catalog of proper tours that include Bassnectar and a recent run with Les Claypool of PRIMUS in early 2010. According to Satori, the trio is excited by
their ability to create a huge sound from their relatively small setup. “It gives us this whole new world of musical opportunities that we’re just starting to scratch the surface of.”

In a prolific 3 years since Beats Antique emerged, the group has released 2 albums and a pair of EPs, with a third album, Blind Threshold, on the way. Notable features of the new release include
vaporous violins and Danny Elfman-esque dementia; glitchy, laser-guided harmonica provided by Blues Traveler frontman John Popper; and 2 very different vocal tracks that range between restless
pop hooks and vibrant Eastern European dance loops. All wrapped into an intricate collection of heavy beats and sub bass.

Beats Antique is best imagined as an innovative creature built from the cumulative heritage of the world’s music chasing its tail. However vivid that image, when a marching band groove crashes
into bluesy folk chords only to be accompanied by electronic beats and Middle Eastern melodies, you’ll still be surprised.

temps.

This DVD presents 75 minutes of raw blues from vocalist Tail Dragger with his Chicago Blues Band live from Rooster's Lounge on the west side of Chicago. If you want to experience a typical
Saturday night at the Lounge, this is the next thing to being there. Tail Dragger takes his mic and wanders around the room, singing in his gravel-mouthed style, stopping here and there to plead
his relationship blues to a variety of (mostly) females (with the guys looking on from their perspective). There are times when I would like to see him move on to a different gal, as he sometimes
seems to play up to one for too long. However, his audience has come to expect this and delights in wondering who his next "victim" will be. This is not blues-lite or blues-rock. The band
provides a solid shuffle backing throughout the set, although I would have preferred one less of the two guitarists. I like guitar, but sometimes there can be too many in the sound mix. Special
guest Jimmy Dawkins steps in, taking the place of one, and plays guitar with the band on one number, "Wander", and has a welcomed sound. In fact, the appearance of Jimmy Dawkins on this DVD was
probably the main reason I bought it, and I would like to see an entire DVD such as this devoted to Dawkins with backing band in the future. Otherwise, I was very impressed with the band's Martin
Lang on blues harp (harmonica). On every number, he provided a sincere, enthusiastic backing, helping to create a true-blues sound. The video is shot from a variety of angles, and the
videographers deserve praise for being able to keep up with the pacing Tail Dragger. All in all, this is a DVD for those that want to see and feel the raw blues in the proper venue.

Their name inspired by the weed section of the botanical gardens in Geneva and the undeniable power of hemp, Dan and Cristina are WEED.

Dan was born in Bucharest, Romania. He began violin and classical music training at an early age.

Even earlier he began a lifelong fascination with tape machines and tapes fed in backwards, the distant transmissions of Radio Free Europe coming through distorted frequencies and the phasing
effects one can create by playing with a short wave receptor.

Cristina, a free spirited artist and poet is from the same district of Bucharest as Dan but the two never met until their families fled communist Romania.

Granted a scholarship to study at the Conservatoire de Geneve at only sixteen,Dan sought music everywhere, spending time in record shops, meeting djs who soon led him into clubs. Earning a set of
Technics djing at the landmark Club 58 on the resident's days off and soon after dropping out of musical studies and college to work odd jobs in order to acquire a Korg synthesiser and a Roland
beat box, Dan was on his way to making reality out of the dream of composing and producing electronic music.

Having met Dan on a spanish holiday, Cristina began experimenting with music herself after having discovered the likes of Vangelis, Syd Barett,Can, Kate Bush.

Blessed with a distinctive voice and a passion for painting, making collages and macro photography, she also became the live vocal sample provider for Dan's musical projects.

Having relocated to Canada, they quickly became known among a new electronic music community that had grown in early nineties Vancouver, launching the Outersanctum label connected more with
Detroit and german techno, ambient, acid house, than the industrial sounds this city is more readily associated with.

The first compilation "Frequencies from the edge of the tektonic plate" with its ambient acid feel puts Vancouver on this planet's electronic music map.

A string of releases followed, some released through their own label, others licensed to established names like Harthouse, The All Blacks, Apollon, Silent, Interchill, Pork,

    Chrysalis, WaxTrax, and EMI .

In 1999 the two return to native Romania for a visit and decide to settle in a mountain village where life is as it was two hundred years [or more] ago.

Horse drawn carriages, wooden stoves, secular traditions and lots of fresh air.

Floating between shamanic pop and space-a-delic lust " Visionary Sessions" is pure electromantic therapy.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is a young, Vermont based band working to impact audiences with timeless, original music. Their creative blend of roots, funky blues, gospel, and rock conjures up
a nostalgic sound most likely found in a record collection from the sixties and early seventies.

Leading this charge is twenty-one year old Grace Potter whose vocal ability already draws dynamic comparisons to legends such as Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Norah Jones, and Janis Joplin. Her
unique style behind the Hammond B-3 and piano has also been captivating audiences across the country.

Joining Potter is Scott Tournet (guitar/slide guitar), Matthew Burr (drums/percussion), and Bryan Dondero (upright/electric bass). The band is currently touring in promotion of "Nothing But the
Water", a powerful sophomore album filled with soul-charged roots, blues, and rock. The site of the recording sessions was a historic barn in central Vermont, which was ambitiously transformed
into a studio for a week. Visit http://www.gracepotter.com for sound samples, touring information, and band updates.

Recently the band has shared stages with well known artists such as Robert Cray, Gillian Welch, Mavis Staples, and Hot Tuna.

"This may be the hottest thing to come out of Vermont since...what was the name of that band again? Anyways, we got a whiff of what is to come on Grace Potter's sophomore album, Nothing But The
Water, and with a rock, funk, and soul-charged repertoire, we like what we hear. The new album hits stores in May and they'll be performing a number of CD Release shows on the East Coast. No need
to find the proper setting, we can't think of a room this sound wouldn't warm."

    -Jambase.com

"Potter sings of jilted love and jealousy, it's hard to believe she's only 21. The band's sound echoes music that's older than the band members themselves; they're influenced by musicians that
came of age in the 1960s and '70s, from the Rolling Stones to J.J. Cale, The Band to Bonnie Raitt, Otis Redding to Little Feat, Dire Straits to Talking Heads."

    -The Burlington Free Press

"Like Bonnie Raitt on her best day ever, like Tina Turner on a granulated sugar high, like Bette Midler and Janis Joplin dueting the theme from "Annie," Grace Potter can flat out crank when she
feels the need. And she does.

    -The Connecticut Valley Spectator

"As I settled in for the act, the band that took the stage was fronted by a young woman (21ish) with long dirty blonde hair who alternatively sits at the keys playing organ and stands at the mic,
tambourine at her side. What poured from her mouth was powerfully resonant blues-rock. Her name is Grace Potter, and she perfectly channels a soulfulness usually reserved for much more
established artists in this vein- Bonnie Raitt and Patti Griffin.

    http://www.myspace.com/gregoryisaacsmon

    Origine du Groupe : Jamaica

    Style : Reggae

    Sortie : 1976

    From Wikipedia :

Joyeux Nojel et merci petit Papa My Automata
